Day 3: Singapore

Singapore is one of the most exciting destinations in Asia, a real melting pot where Chinese, Indian and Malay cultures have merged with Western influences to create a vibrant city. This morning we embark on a tour of the highlights of the city, such as its ethnic quarters that help make the city what it is today; the famous Merlion Statue, a national symbol of Singapore; and the beautiful botanical gardens. The afternoon is left free to enjoy – maybe treat yourself to afternoon tea at Raffles Hotel?

Included meals: Breakfast

Day 5: Perth

Our first day in Perth starts with a sightseeing tour of the city and its surrounds, beginning at King’s Park, a sprawling landscape of grassed parkland, botanical gardens and natural bushland in the heart of Perth. At the nearby town of Fremantle, known as Freo to the locals, we visit the Shipwreck Galleries for a fascinating insight into the area’s maritime history. We return to Perth via a cruise on the Swan River passing some jaw-dropping cliffside mansions on the way.

Included meals: Breakfast

Coast of Rottnest Island, Australia, with varying green and blue water

Day 6: Perth – Rottnest Island

Today’s adventure is a visit to Rottnest Island, a paradise of white-sand beaches and secluded coves. We enjoy a buffet lunch before taking a tour of the island, discovering pristine beaches, the unique flora and fauna, plus the Wadjemup Lighthouse, built in 1896. Learn about the island’s Aboriginal history and of course we will hopefully meet the most famous local resident of Rottnest Island, the friendly and adorable quokka.

Day 7: Kangaroo Island, 2 nights

This morning, we take a flight to Adelaide, where our waiting coach will take us to the Fleurieu Peninsula. Day 8: Kangaroo Island

Tour Highlight

We begin our Kangaroo Island adventure by driving to Seal Bay Conservation Park on the south of the island. Experienced rangers will teach us about the rare Australian sea lion, and give you their expert insight into how these endangered animals hunt, surf, rest, interact with their pups and defend their territory. After enjoying a picnic lunch, we spend the afternoon at Flinders Chase National Park, a vast area of wilderness featuring the iconic Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Flinders Chase is a sanctuary for many native Australian species such as koalas, wallabies and echidnas, plus a colony of playful long-nosed fur seals. As our tour continues, we learn how the park is rapidly regenerating following the devastating bush fires of 2019. We return to our hotel after a truly wonderful day among Australia’s wildlife.

Included meals: Breakfast and picnic lunch

Day 9: Adelaide, 2 nights

We say goodbye to the wildlife of Kangaroo Island and take the ferry back to the South Australian mainland. Our route to Adelaide includes a visit to Hahndorf, a pretty village which is Australia’s oldest remaining German settlement. This heritage is reflected in its Fachwerkhäuser – traditional Germanic-style half-timbered buildings. Adelaide is a small city surrounded by rolling hills and the Mount Lofty Ranges, and on arrival we will take a sightseeing tour to explore its fine Victorian architecture and its expansive parks and gardens surrounding the River Torrens. Finally, we arrive at our home for the next two nights, the Crowne Plaza Hotel .

Our accommodation for the next two nights is the Pullman on the Park.

Included meals: Breakfast

Day 12: Melbourne Freedom Day

A Freedom Day to spend as we please. There are numerous enjoyable activities available, such as a ride on the Puffing Billy, a steam train, through the Blue Dandenong Ranges, or a coastal drive along the spectacular Great Ocean Road. Or maybe take a trip to Phillip Island to view the ‘Penguin Parade’ where scores of Fairy Penguins make their way from the ocean to their burrows on the beach.

We take a guided tour of the rock base, discovering more about its history and legends.

Tour Highlight

Tonight, we dine under the stars at the Sounds of Silence experience. Our evening begins with canapés and sparkling wine served on a viewing platform overlooking Uluru. As the sun sets and darkness falls, the sounds of a didgeridoo fill the air and candles glow as you sit down to enjoy a lavish three course meal with drinks in the most spectacular of settings.

We also visit the Old Telegraph Station, the site of the old springs from which Alice gets its name, and ANZAC Hill which has panoramic views over the surrounding MacDonnell Ranges.

For those wishing to venture further afield, a full day overland or flightseeing excursion to Kakadu National Park can be arranged.

Included meals: Breakfast

CAerial view of Cairns harbour with boats out in the sea and hills in the background

Day 19: Cairns, 5 nights

An early start this morning as we board our one-stop flight to Cairns, in Far North Queensland. The journey to Kuranda is on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, gliding above the treetops with spectacular views over the rainforest. We spend a pleasant few hours exploring Kuranda’s attractions which include the Koala Gardens and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary (entry at own expense). Artists and craftspeople gravitate to Kuranda, and showcase their wares in its markets. We return to Cairns on the heritage Kuranda Scenic Railway, crossing 40 bridges and through 15 tunnels on its uniquely breathtaking journey.

Whether you want to snorkel surrounded by marine life, swim in the warm waters or explore the depths in a semi-submersible vessel, there is plenty of time to enjoy these activities and more. There are other activities available at an additional cost for those looking for more adventure, such as scuba diving, a snorkel safari guided by a marine biologist or taking a scenic helicopter flight over the reef for spectacular views.

Included meals: Breakfast and lunch

Day 22: Cairns Freedom Day

Another Freedom Day to enjoy in Far North Queensland. For an unforgettable experience, take a day trip to nearby Daintree Rainforest, the world’s oldest rainforest. The excursion continues to Cape Tribulation, a remote headland, with glorious unspoilt beaches and walking tracks through the lush forests. On our way back to the city centre we pass beautiful Rushcutters Bay and upmarket Double Bay before arriving at Hyde Park, home to Parliament House and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. This unique ‘chair’ is actually an exposed sandstone rock, cut into a bench shape in 1810 by convicts as a gift to the wife of Governor Macquarie. It also happens to be a perfect spot for ‘the’ photo of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Our sightseeing tour culminates in the best possible way as we board our vessel for a lunch cruise on Sydney Harbour, accompanied by the most spectacular views – the perfect way to end our first morning in Sydney.

We were taken to all the places we wanted to see, accommodated in first class hotels, flew from a town to another without a hitch, had a sight-seeing tour in every city and were always accompanied by James, our Australian guide who we couldn't praise enough.
Dr Tawfik, Wonders of Australia
The organisation and skill devoted to making this special was exceptional. From the tour managers down to the coach drivers and the choice of hotels there is really nothing I could fault. One big, perfect adventure from start to finish. Thank you!
Mr & Mrs Waters, Wonders of Australia
Have just returned from Australia with this excellent company. When you phone the company you nearly always speak to the same knowledgeable person, nothing was too much trouble. The trip was well planned and all the hotels they used excellent.
Mrs P (Bedford), Visions of Australia
