    Daintree Rainforest

    Cairns

    Overview

    Highlights:

    • Cruise on the Daintree River
    • Lunch by the Rainforest
    • Walk in the Mossman Gorge

The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest continual living rainforest in the world, and this is your opportunity to discover this World Heritage Listed Wet Tropics area.

A treasure trove of natural history, the Daintree Rainforest is home to the greatest variety of animal and plant species that are considered threatened or rare. Almost two-thirds of all bat and butterfly species in Australia and over 400 bird species call the Daintree home. Incredibly, 13 of the bird species that live in the Daintree Rainforest are not found anywhere else in the world.

We will start the day travelling up the scenic highway to Port Douglas, for an opportunity to dip your toes in the sand and water of the famed Four Mile Beach. After a light refreshment and comfort stop we head off to the Daintree River where we embark on a scenic wildlife cruise searching for snakes, beautiful birds and of course the mighty saltwater crocodile.

After our cruise, we enjoy lunch in an open-air restaurant by the rainforest, before taking a guided walk and swim in the stunning southern section of the Daintree National Park, the Mossman Gorge. Your guide will explain how the rainforest works to give you a real understanding of this amazing environment. After chance to relax or take a swim, it’s time to head back, making a stop at the famed Rex Lookout for photos on the way.
