Following the success of our first ever Australia and New Zealand tours, here at Distant Journeys we have decided to cover even more dream destinations in both countries. These will be brand new additions to our already outstanding Wonders of Australia and Magnificent New Zealand tours from June and October 2016 respectively, with more details available to view in our brand new brochure.
Instead of visiting Adelaide, our Wonders of Australia tour will now instead include a journey aboard one of the world’s greatest railways, The Ghan, with Gold Service, from Alice Springs, a remote town in the heart of the outback, to Darwin on the north coast. The journey will also include a stop in Katherine, where we will visit Nitmiluk National Park and enjoy a scenic cruise along the Katherine River, taking in views of the varied wildlife, towering sandstone cliffs and the famous Katherine Gorge.
Upon arrival in Darwin, you’ll be able to explore the city as you wish, with plenty of options, including The Defence of Darwin Experience, which tells the story of the city’s role in World War II, and Litchfield National Park, a vast land of rainforest and waterfalls. A visit to Kakadu National Park, which can be viewed either on land or from the air, can also be arranged.
One of the new additions to our Magnificent New Zealand tour will be an unforgettable experience on the TranzAlpine Express, arguably one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. Transporting you from Christchurch to Arthur’s Pass, the journeys first takes you over the rolling farmland of the Canterbury Plains, before climbing through the Southern Alps, taking in stunning vistas of the mountains and gorges.
An already popular feature of the Magnificent New Zealand is a visit to the breathtaking Milford Sound, and this experience has now been made even better with the addition of a once-in-a-lifetime overnight cruise on the Milford Mariner, which will take you through the fjord in its entirety and out to the Tasman Sea, before anchoring in Harrison Cove.
A brand new destination, Dunedin, will also be included on our New Zealand tours. Known as the ‘Edinburgh of the South’, Dunedin is filled with spectacular architecture and Victorian charm, and is the second largest city on the South Island. You’ll also be able to enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city, which will take in New Zealand’s first university, Otago University, several 19th century buildings, Dunedin Botanical Gardens and the Otago Peninsula and Harbour.
If all of these experiences appeal to you, there are also plans in the future to combine all of our fantastic destinations into the ultimate Australia-New Zealand tour – keep visiting our website to find out more about upcoming offers and new tours.
The organisation and communication were first class. The flexibility in travelling to the destination was impressive and the hotels where we stayed in were all of a good standard. Our Coach was driven by Ken, who was a character and nothing was too much for him.
Mr & Mrs Hall, Magnificent New Zealand
We both enjoyed the Magnificent New Zealand holiday immensely. The Coach Driver/Tour Guide was excellent and the hotels were really comfortable. The holiday was extremely good value and I would recommend it to anyone waning to taste the Antipodean holiday experience.
