Today is left free to explore further. Maybe visit the Gardens by the Bay, a multi award-winning attraction featuring over half a million plants and two climate-controlled conservatory domes? For a truly iconic Singaporean experience, take a seat in the famous Long Bar at Raffles Hotel and enjoy a Singapore Sling.
Included meals: Breakfast
We leave Singapore after breakfast and fly to Melbourne. Our flight arrives late in the evening, and we transfer straight to the Stamford Plaza Hotel, our home for the first three nights in Australia.

After a leisurely start, we head out for a city tour to discover Melbourne’s sights. We see its well-preserved Victorian buildings, leafy parks, and sporting venues such as the MCG and the Rod Laver Arena. Also included are Port Melbourne and St Kilda, Melbourne’s waterside suburbs. The remainder of the day is left free for us to enjoy.

Our first Australian Freedom Day, where we can choose to take an optional excursion to explore Melbourne’s surrounding areas. For some railway nostalgia, take the Puffing Billy steam train through the Blue Dandenong Ranges; or visit Phillip Island, home to the world’s largest colony of Fairy Penguins, to view the nightly ‘Penguin Parade’. To enjoy truly spectacular coastal scenery, take an excursion along the internationally renowned Great Ocean Road.

After breakfast we leave for the airport and our short flight across the Bass Strait to Launceston, Tasmania. Known as the ‘Apple Isle’, for its abundant fruit orchards as well as its shape, Tasmania is an island state of captivating beauty. On arrival, our first port of call is Trowunna Wildlife Reserve, an 85-acre wildlife sanctuary where native Tasmanian fauna and flora thrive. Among the residents are bandicoots, wombats, wallabies and quolls, plus the famous Tasmanian Devil. We continue with a scenic journey to Cradle Mountain, and the Cradle Mountain Hotel, our home for the next two nights.
Included meals: Breakfast
This morning we make a short journey to Dove Lake, a glacially carved tarn in the Cradle Mountain National Park. We will enjoy a walk around the lake, which has epic views of Cradle Mountain and takes us through some of Tasmania’s unique vegetation, such as sassafras and buttongrass. Our afternoon is at leisure – maybe visit the Wilderness Gallery, in the grounds of the hotel, showcasing the work of Tasmanian artists and craftspeople, and enjoy a free tasting of delicious local honey?

We journey west today, making a stop at the Vale of Belvoir lookout for a different view of Cradle Mountain before arriving at Zeehan, an historic mining ‘boom and bust’ town named after explorer Abel Tasman’s sailing brig. Next, we see the Henty Sand Dunes, a series of giant dunes behind Ocean Beach, formed by the wild winds of the Roaring Forties. We watch the huge breakers crash down onto Ocean Beach before reaching our destination, the small town of Strahan. Our hotel is Strahan Village, and after settling in we enjoy dinner together.

After breakfast we board the ‘Spirit of the Wild’ for a wonderful cruise along the Gordon River. We cruise through the notorious Hells Gates, where Macquarie Harbour and the Southern Ocean meet, learn about salmon and trout farming on the west coast of Tasmania before entering the beautiful Gordon River. Our vessel is purpose-built for cruising in the sensitive environment of the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, and we cruise in ‘whisper mode’, enjoying the serenity from the comfort of our window seats. Stopping at Heritage Landing we’ll walk through the temperate rainforest, before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch on board. To finish, we explore the ruins of Sarah Island, a former penal colony where our guide will regale us with chilling tales of its convict history. We arrive back in Strahan mid-afternoon, and this evening we gather again to enjoy dinner.

This morning we travel to Queenstown in time to board the West Coast Wilderness Railway, for a steam powered trip deep into cool, remote rainforest.
