If you’re looking for a taste of Australian art and culture, the city of Perth is hard to beat with its array of attractions ready for you to explore. With so much on offer, here’s a handy guide to our top art attractions and museums in Perth:
Perth Concert Hall
At the heart of the city lies the impressive Perth Concert Hall which plays host to a fantastic range of performances. Whilst the venue’s incredible acoustics make it a natural choice for many touring orchestras, the building has also seen the likes of Michael Bublé, Noel Gallagher and the legendary Ray Charles perform there. Check out their website to see what’s on offer during your time in Perth.
Art Gallery of Western Australia
Art galleries in Perth are easy to find. However, a fascinating and unique assortment of indigenous and pre-eminent Western Australian art (amongst other things) makes the Art Gallery of Western Australia a must-see. Just a short stroll from the train station, the Perth art gallery showcases the perfect blend of local and international artists. You will not be disappointed by possibly the finest display of art in Perth!
Set to the glorious backdrop of the Swan River, Elizabeth Quay is bursting with cultural experiences and some of the most breathtaking art exhibitions in Perth. At every turn your eyes will be drawn to the beautiful artistry which dominates the waterside location. Particular highlights include the 29m tall Spanda structure and the EDGE – an eye-catching feature which lights up the whole length of the inlet. With so much on offer, you will have no problem filling your time at Elizabeth Quay.
The Nostalgia Box
If a museum purely dedicated to games consoles sounds like your kind of thing, then look no further than The Nostalgia Box – arguably one of the most unique museums in Perth, Australia. Located in Northbridge, a visit to the museum will bring back fond memories of gaming no matter what the generation. Whether you were a gamer in the 1970s or the 2000s, the tales behind every console are covered. Australia’s first interactive Game Console Museum is an opportunity not to be missed.
The Perth Mint
High on the list of Perth experiences is undoubtedly The Perth Mint. Let’s face it, who doesn’t like gold! At The Perth Mint, visitors are told the history of Western Australian gold through a stimulating range of multimedia presentations. Highlights of the Perth museum include the astounding Guinness World Record holding Australian Kangaroo Coin which weighs an incredible one tonne. Furthermore, a trip to the Melting House gives tourists a chance to watch the formation of a solid gold bar from molten gold. All in all, a dazzling day out!
With so much on offer in the vibrant city of Perth, the problem is not what to do – but how to fit it all in! So if the cultural attractions of this city sound too good to miss, make sure you add it to your organised trip to Australia.
The organisation and communication were first class. The flexibility in travelling to the destination was impressive and the hotels where we stayed in were all of a good standard. Our Coach was driven by Ken, who was a character and nothing was too much for him.
Mr & Mrs Hall, Magnificent New Zealand
We both enjoyed the Magnificent New Zealand holiday immensely. The Coach Driver/Tour Guide was excellent and the hotels were really comfortable. The holiday was extremely good value and I would recommend it to anyone waning to taste the Antipodean holiday experience.
