    Departing: Feb 2026 - Nov 2026

From the cobbled colonial streets of Lima to the samba rhythms of Rio de Janeiro, our 26-day Very Best of South America tour is a journey of a lifetime that celebrates South America’s most iconic landscapes, rich cultures, and unforgettable experiences.

In Peru, we uncover ancient secrets – wandering through Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley and marvelling at the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu. We experience the enduring legacy of Andean traditions and enjoy the valley’s dramatic mountain scenery aboard the Vistadome Observatory train. As we travel through Chile and Argentina, dramatic vistas unfold; serene lakes beneath snow-capped volcanoes, the glittering ice of Perito Moreno Glacier, and the windswept beauty of Patagonia await. We sip fine wines in an historic vineyard and sail across the Andes, immersed in nature’s grandeur. We feel the soul of Argentina through its music, dance, and passionate spirit. And in Brazil, we stand before the thundering majesty of Iguazú Falls before taking in the iconic sights of Rio de Janeiro, including Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain.

South America promises to be an adventure filled with discovery and unforgettable moments. Join Distant Journeys and craft stories to tell for years to come.

This is not the holiday for everyone - yes you see all the main sights, yes you stay in great hotels and eat great food, but I worry how much money did we really put in the local economy, we used the same guide, driver and helper for all the 17 days with no real chance to shop locally or meet locals and experience local veiw on what we saw

    Very Best of Sri Lanka

A very full and interesting escorted tour. All the local guides were excellent, very knowledgeable and passionate about their country. The hotels were all very well located and had good facilities. Distant Journey tours are often several days longer than offered on other web sites but this means you get more down time and the tours are a more relaxed pace, it can be hard doing the early mornings and such a lot of travelling but it’s the only way to experience the Countries at their best. We have now done 2 tours with Distant Journeys and I would recommend them without hesitation.

Very Best of Vietnam and Cambodia with Laos Extension

Excellent itinerary, excellent tour guide A J . (AJINTH Fosaka). Very good hotels. Freedom time and optional excursions if wanted.
