Leave Buenos Aires and head to San Antonio de Areco, a town where gaucho traditions run deep on the pampas. Stroll through cobbled streets and explore the historic centre of this genuine Argentinian village, known as the ‘Cradle of Tradition’. Founded over 280 years ago, it features shops selling leather, silverwork, and traditional gaucho items. Vintage bars and specialty food and craft stores add to its charm. Visit Museo Draghi, a museum showcasing a family’s silversmithing craftmanship, and where prominent Argentine artisan, Juan José, is remembered. Nearby, visit La Bamba de Areco Estância - dating back to 1830, this beautiful horse and cattle breeding ranch is one of Argentina’s oldest colonial-style farms. Ride a horse or simply relax at the ranch, then enjoy a traditional ‘asado’ barbecue. Experience life as a local, explore gaucho traditions, listen to stories, and get a real sense of Argentina’s rural origins.
