Leave the city behind and explore a local organic vegetable farm, with a live cookery demonstration followed by lunch. Just a 45-minute drive from Jaipur, the farm has a glorious countryside setting, in the shadow of the Aravali Hills.
The organic farm visit begins with a traditional welcome by the local farmers, and a drink of local chai tea before we are taken on a tour of all the produce being grown – vegetables that may be familiar as they are exported overseas, others less so; we can discover more about Indian agriculture as we watch them being harvested and packed.
There is free time to stroll around the farm, chat with the people who work there and even pick your own vegetables, after which we move on to the farm next door where, during an entertaining cookery demonstration of organic food in India these vegetables will be transformed into a traditional Rajasthani lunch.
