Day 1 Depart Adelaide – Broken Hill
Make your way from the City of Churches via the historic Silver City of Broken Hill to the Harbour City. Boarding The Indian Pacific in Adelaide, take in the striking, ever-changing landscape of South Australia heading East towards Sydney. Over lunch, watch as pastures dissolve into tough mallee scrub on approach to Broken Hill. On arrival in ‘the Silver City’, you can visit the late Pro Hart’s art studio or head for the Miners’ Memorial to discover the stark reality of working in Broken Hill’s mines where more than 800 miners lost their lives.
Day 2 Sydney
Winding your way through the magnificent Blue Mountains provides ample opportunity to relax and reflect upon this unforgettable journey. After travelling through some of the most striking landscapes on Earth you arrive in Sydney. From a coffee cruise on one of the world’s most famous harbours to an action-packed day of sightseeing or shopping in the city, Sydney provides an entertaining and fitting end to your spectacular rail adventure.
Through the big screen window of your cosy, well-appointed cabin, you’ll watch tremendous secrets unfold as the train transports you over this vast land. After your off-train activities, your cabin provides the perfect place to relax and recharge before heading for the lounge or dining carriage.
With room to stretch out and all the comforts of home, Gold Service is the most popular level of service aboard The Indian Pacific. You’ll enjoy private cabin accommodation together with all-inclusive dining and beverages. Gold Service accommodation is available in both single and twin-share.
For Gold Twin, a comfortable sleeper cabin featuring private en-suite and upper and lower berths that convert to a three-seater lounge by day For Gold Single, a compact sleeper cabin featuring a bed that converts to a seat by day and shared shower/toilet facilities located at the end of the carriage. During the day, the compact Twin Berth Sleeper Cabins offer a comfortable three seater lounge, converting to an upper and lower sleeping berth at night. Twin Berth Sleeper Cabins have private en-suite facilities with a hide-away compact toilet, wash basin and shower.
Feeling peckish? Step out of your spacious cabin and into the exclusive, classically styled Queen Adelaide Restaurant Car where an all-inclusive menu is prepared by on-board chefs using fresh local fare. The seasonal menu features mouth-watering dishes such as saltwater barramundi and grilled kangaroo fillet.
Platinum and Gold Service includes hearty breakfasts, two course lunches and three course dinners. You may also choose to complement your meal with a selection of wines and beverages, all of which are included.
Queen Adelaide Restaurant
Take your seat in one of the world’s most exclusive restaurants which serves 1.3 million dishes a year and creates unforgettable dining experiences set in the midst of stunning valleys, deserts and mountain ranges.
The ornate styling of the Queen Adelaide Restaurant is reminiscent of old-world rail travel, while its mouth-watering menus showcase the finest regional flavours available – from Top End barramundi, locally-produced beef and lamb, Margaret River cheeses, Barossa Valley small goods and native Australian fare including kangaroo, saltbush and wild rosella flower. All meals are complemented by a range of all-inclusive wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages. The Queen Adelaide Restaurant is open to all Platinum and Gold Service guests for breakfast, two-course lunch and three-course dinner.
Outback Explorer Lounge
You never know who you’ll meet or where the conversation will lead in the Outback Explorer Lounge – the perfect place for travellers to come together and share stories, all while enjoying a wide range of all-inclusive refreshments.
All day and often late into the night, the Outback Explorer Lounge is the train’s centre of activity where long hours can be spent socialising, snacking and catching glimpses of passing wildlife through wide picture windows.
