Australia Zoo at Beerwah, is a fantastic place to see Australian wildlife, and it was made famous by late conservationist Steve Irwin.

The zoo is spread over 1000 acres visitors can observe and interact with 1200 animals, many of which are Australian natives such as dingoes, kangaroos, koalas, possums, Tasmanian devils and Wombats.

At lunchtime we take a short drive to the pretty hilltop town of Montville, famous for its historic main street, art galleries, shops and restaurants – a great place to stop for a bite to eat (lunch at own expense).

The final visit of the day is at the nearby Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. It offers 55 hectares of beautiful subtropical rainforest accessed by an easy flat walking track. A newly built Discovery Centre provides insights through interactive displays. The café and terraces afford a panoramic views of the uniquely shaped glass house mountains.
