Australia’s East Coast Jewels

27 days from £7,995 per person
Departing: Feb 2026 - Nov 2027

Illuminating authentic experiences with a completely unique itinerary, Australia’s East Coast Jewels includes visits to many places not featured in any other Distant Journeys tour. If this is a return visit to Australia, or you’re looking to delve a little deeper into all this vast country has to offer, this is the holiday for you.

Cruise the sparkling waters of the Whitsunday Islands to explore the powder soft sands of Whitehaven Beach, and explore the sand dunes, shipwrecks, tropical rainforests and freshwater lakes of the World Heritage listed Fraser Island, also known as ‘K’gari’ – meaning ‘paradise’.

Discover Australia’s capital, Canberra, as well as the coastal city of Townsville and its neighbouring Magnetic Island, home to the largest colony of koalas in North Australia. Visit the beating heart of Queensland, Brisbane, and the city of Rockhampton, where we will learn about the sugar cane farmers of the Mackay region and discover the limestone formations of Capricorn Caves, dating back 400 million years.

Paired with stays in the ever-popular Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Port Douglas, with options to explore the Great Barrier Reef, you can guarantee a holiday of a lifetime.

From our experts

If I were putting together a tour for friends or relatives from the UK this is the itinerary that I’d want to take them on. I’m from Sydney and all of our family holidays were on the East coast. My greatest memories are of our holidays to The Whitsundays and Fraser Island.
