India has captured the minds and hearts of travellers and poets alike, and for good reason. The country’s beauty is matched only by the depth of its history.
Every corner tells a story: from ancient palaces to imposing forts; pristine forests to the bustle of bazaars. India is the perfect choice for the traveller who wants it all, seeking to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Our 16-day Deccan Odyssey’s Cultural Discovery tour explores some of the most iconic sights that India has to offer, starting with Delhi, we visit the Golden Temple and witness the Wagah-Attari border ceremony in Amritsar and experience the home of Tibetan Buddhism in Dharamshala.
We enjoy seven nights on board the world-renowned Deccan Odyssey; a true highlight of this tour. Lean into the pace of this remarkable rail journey, leaving the comfort of the train to search for the ever-elusive Bengal tiger in Ranthambore National Park, or wonder at the opulent Taj Mahal in Agra. Be dazzled by Jaipur, the Pink City, visit revered temples and the holy River Ganges. returning to our elegant cabin and butler after each excursion.
This tour is more than just a trip: it’s a Cultural Discovery, offering immersion alongside exploration.

5/5

It was an amazing holiday! Excellent hotels, incredible experiences, India is magnificent in its culture and history. Not for the faint hearted - it is full on and you see poverty as well, but that is the country. Only a couple of negatives - the train substituted coach travel one day and didn't tell us the itinerary ahead of time. This was down to the Deccan Odyssey and not Distant Journeys, but it did ruin that day for us as we were trying to avoid coach travel! The Shimla extension was reorganised in country and not as well planned as our booking. However a phone call to Distant Journeys sorted it out wonderfully. I cannot fault Distant Journeys - the itinerary was really well put together and their customer service is exceptional. I would recommend this holiday absolutely.
