Information
TRAVELLING TO AND VIA THE MIDDLE EAST
Due to the current situation in the Middle East, flights operating to, from, or via affected Middle East hubs have been unable to operate as planned. We are working with our airline and overseas partners to support customers in resort, and those due to travel imminently. Please read the relevant section below that applies to your situation.
If you are interested in booking a new holiday, please be assured that we offer alternative airlines and flight routes that avoid the Middle East on our tours. Whilst some of our previously scheduled flights may still be advertised, just speak to our team to discuss all available options.
Currently in resort and due to return via a Middle East hub
We will be in touch with you at least two days prior to your tour ending. Please do speak to our partners on the ground if you have any queries before this.
We want to reassure you that our priority is to secure safe travel arrangements to return you to the UK as soon as possible. Distant Journeys remains responsible for getting you home and our team is continuously checking all available flight options and will secure seats as soon as suitable routes become available.
However, we will not route you through parts of the Middle East where the UK Foreign Office is advising against travel, even if airlines are still operating flights. Because of this, scheduled flight options that avoid routing through the Middle East are currently extremely limited. We are looking at all available flight routes, and will contact you directly once return flight arrangements are confirmed.
We are working to secure extended stays where required. Please check your visa validity and ensure you are legally permitted to remain in the country if your stay is extended. You should also keep your passport and travel documents accessible and retain receipts for reasonable necessary expenses.
Future departures due to leave the UK before 07 April and travel via a Middle East hub – currently not operable
If you are due to travel imminently and your holiday is scheduled to operate via the Middle East:
- At present, these holidays are unable to operate
- You do not need to contact us
- We will contact you directly in departure date order with your available options
These will include:
- Amending your booking to a later date
- Changing tour or destination
- Receiving a full refund
All departures between 08 April and 30 May 2026
As our team are currently managing a higher volume of calls, emails and booking amendments than usual, we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time whilst we prioritise those impacted imminently. If you are due to travel with an airline via a Middle East hub in April or May and wish to discuss further, please email [email protected]
