3 night Amritsar holiday extension from only £545pp
Located in the northern Indian state of Punjab, Amritsar was established in 1577 by the fourth Sikh guru, Ram Das. Home to the magnificent Golden Temple, Sikhism’s holiest shrine and a worthy rival to the Taj Mahal as India’s most spectacular monument, Amritsar offers a beautiful blend of culture, history and tradition.
This holiday extension is available to add to the end of our Golden Triangle & Ranthambore tour.
The fascinating city of Amritsar offers many highlights, including the Guard Retreat ceremony at the Wagah border and the spectacular Golden Temple. It is the perfect finale to your Golden Triangle & Ranthambore tour.
This itinerary follows on from Day 10 of our Golden Triangle & Ranthambore tour
We bid farewell to our fellow travelling companions who depart for their final night in Delhi. Those of us heading to Amritsar depart from Jaipur on a one-stop flight. Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel, the impressive Radisson Blu Amritsar, which will be our home for the next two nights.
Included meals: Breakfast and dinner
After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing tour with a visit to the striking Golden Temple in Jallianwala Bagh. We continue to the Partition Museum, a world first ‘people’ museum that tells the stories of millions of people affected during the partition of 1947. The afternoon is reserved for a very special journey to Wagah border, to witness the inimitable Guard Retreat ceremony. This daily ‘beating retreat’ ceremony attracts crowds from both the sides of the India-Pakistan border, and is characterised by elaborate and rapid dance-like manoeuvres.
Later this evening we’ll see the breath-taking Golden Temple at night, when numerous lights illuminate its beauty, and witness the sacred and much revered Palki Sahib ceremony.
Included meals: Breakfast and dinner
Enjoy the day in Amritsar at leisure, before transferring to the airport for our flight to Delhi. When arriving we will transfer to the Pride Plaza Hotel Aerocity for our final night in India.
Included meals: Breakfast and dinner
This morning we say goodbye to the delights of India and transfer to Delhi Airport, boarding our Virgin Atlantic flight back to the UK. We land back in the UK later today.
Included meals: Breakfast and in-flight dinner and drinks
