Home to the magnificent Golden Temple, Sikhism’s holiest shrine and a worthy rival to the Taj Mahal as India’s most spectacular monument, Amritsar offers a beautiful blend of culture, history and tradition.

Today, we travel to Amritsar. Your travel arrangements will vary depending on your location. Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel, the impressive Hyatt Regency Amritsar, which will be our home for the next two nights.

After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing tour with a visit to the striking Golden Temple in Jallianwala Bagh. We continue to the Partition Museum and learn about the millions of people affected during the partition of 1947. The afternoon is reserved for a very special journey to Wagah border, to witness the inimitable Wagah-Attari border ceremony. This daily ‘beating retreat’ ceremony attracts crowds from both the sides of the India-Pakistan border and is characterised by elaborate and rapid dance-like manoeuvres. Later this evening we see the breath-taking Golden Temple at night, when numerous lights illuminate its beauty, and witness the sacred and much revered Palki Sahib ceremony.

Enjoy the day in Amritsar at leisure, before transferring to the airport for our flight to Delhi. When arriving we will transfer to either the Pride Plaza Hotel Aerocity or the ITC Welcomhotel Dwarka for our final night in India.

It’s time to say farewell to this amazing country. Our flight departs Delhi in the morning, arriving in the UK this evening.

Minimum numbers: A minimum of 2 guests from the tour is required for this extension. If only one passenger is taking the extension a higher single supplement may be applicable.
