Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary reveals itself at its most evocative when explored on foot, and in the company of an experienced forest guide. In small groups, you will venture deep into the sanctuary, beginning a gently immersive trek through lush jungle terrain, where the sounds and rhythms of nature set the pace for the day.

As you follow winding forest trails, keep watch for the rich variety of wildlife that calls Periyar home. With a little luck, you may spot colourful birdlife flitting through the canopy, sambar deer moving quietly through the undergrowth, or troops of inquisitive macaques observing from the trees above.

Covering approximately 4–5 kilometres, the walk is unhurried and rewarding, offering ample opportunity to pause, absorb your surroundings, and capture picturesque moments amid this beautifully protected landscape.
