This eco-focused experience begins with a scenic ferry crossing to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. On arrival, you will travel by 4x4 vehicle and trailer to the top of the Western Head, where breathtaking views unfold across the Knysna Lagoon and out towards the Indian Ocean.
At the viewpoint, a specialist guide introduces you to the reserve’s unique natural environment, explaining the rich variety of local flora, known as fynbos, and the wildlife that inhabits this protected area. The setting offers a peaceful opportunity to appreciate the unspoilt beauty of the coastline from above.
Guests may then choose to join an optional downhill walk of just over a mile, descending through coastal forest and passing ancient sea caves and towering milkwood trees. This gentle walk provides a closer look at the reserve’s diverse landscapes before returning by ferry, making for a rewarding and memorable experience.
