Overview

Highlights:

  • Spot crocodiles, magpie geese, brolgas and birdlife
  • Learn about the traditions of the Aboriginal people at the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre
  • Explore Kakadu National Park
  • Visit Nourlangie Rock to see ancient Aboriginal rock art

Discover the untamed beauty of Kakadu National Park on this immersive full-day adventure through one of Australia’s most remarkable wilderness regions. A place where ancient Aboriginal culture, rugged escarpments, mighty rivers and extraordinary wildlife exist side by side.

Departing Darwin early in the morning, we travel east along the Arnhem Highway, passing the wetlands and outback landscapes that define this remote corner of Australia. Along the way, look out for towering termite mounds, native birdlife and the crocodile-inhabited waters of the Adelaide River, while your guide brings the region’s fascinating history and ecosystems to life. Within Kakadu National Park itself, a short guided walk at Nourlangie Rock reveals ancient Aboriginal rock art sheltered beneath dramatic sandstone escarpments. Later, enjoy a tropical buffet lunch before boarding a relaxing cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong, home to crocodiles, magpie geese, brolgas and a dazzling array of birdlife. A visit to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre offers further insight into the traditions and stories of the Aboriginal people who have called Kakadu home for thousands of years.

To complete the experience, you can add a spectacular 50-minute scenic flight which reveals parts of Kakadu inaccessible by road. Soaring above the Arnhem Land Escarpment, East Alligator Valley, Mikinj Valley billabongs and the sweeping Magela floodplains, the immense scale and beauty of Kakadu unfolds beneath you.
