Visit the Candelaria Church and the Paço Imperial, built in the 18th century to house Brazil’s colonial governors. Then stroll down Gonçalves Dias Street. There, enjoy lunch at ‘Confeitaria Colombo’, an historic café inspired by Art Nouveau that thrived during Rio’s Belle Époque. The café has been part of the city’s fabric for over a hundred years. Following, head to the Metropolitan Cathedral and appreciate its unique architecture and beautiful interior with floor-to-ceiling, stained glass windows. Continue afterward to the Gamboa district to fully experience carnival life at Samba City. At Acadêmicos da Grande Rio, get the inside story of the famous parade with a guided tour.
