Borneo, the world’s third-largest island, is shared by Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei, and is a popular destination for those seeking adventure, wildlife, and nature. Borneo is renowned for its ancient rainforests, vibrant rivers, towering mountains, and rich indigenous cultures. Here are just a few of the extraordinary experiences you can expect on these tours.
Orangutans, Monkeys & More
Borneo boasts a rich diversity of wildlife, including orangutans, proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, sun bears and vibrant bird species. Our tours explore Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary, to see Borneo’s rescued orangutans and savour the rare opportunity to watch them feeding and interacting in their natural habitat. We encounter sun bears – the smallest bear species in the world – and see them in their protected habitat at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. We also venture to Labuk Bay, where we visit a sanctuary for proboscis monkeys that covers 400 acres of mangrove forest.

Kinabatangan River
Enjoy a unique three-night stay at a riverside lodge along the Kinabatangan River, offering an unforgettable experience with numerous wildlife spotting opportunities as we take to the river by boat. From watching out for endemic birds and mammals as the heat of the day recedes; keeping a lookout for any pygmy elephants that may emerge from the undergrowth, to perhaps spotting an alpha-male proboscis monkey with his harem. A night safari offers the perfect opportunity to discover the jungle’s nocturnal wildlife. Guests might spot sleeping birds and crocodiles on the muddy riverbanks, as well as owls high in the trees.

Tribal Life
We travel into the Borneo highlands to Annah Rais, a traditional Bidayuh village centred around its centuries-old longhouse. Here, we gain insight into tribal life, learning about ancient farming practices, meeting local families, and hearing stories passed down through generations, before sharing a warm, authentic lunch.
