A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, Munnar is surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations amid the sweeping valleys and misty mountains of the Western Ghats. The Tall Trees is a haven of tranquillity set in 66 acres of thickly-forested woodland and unique flora and fauna.

Accommodation is in private cottages built on stilts, each one set at a comfortable distance from the nearest one. The décor is typically Keralan, blended with modern facilities, with a private bathroom, spacious bedroom and a private balcony looking out onto the tall trees and distant hills. Birds sing from the surrounding tree tops in the morning and evening; among them are warbler, shrikes, woodpeckers, mynah birds and parakeets. The resort facilities include Tree of Life, a spa offering a range of Ayurvedic treatments, traditional therapies crafted to soothe body and soul. Take the Shola Trail, a self-guided trek through the unique environment of the shola forest in the grounds of the resort. Cross babbling brooks and stroll along the winding pathways, and truly immerse yourself in nature.

Dining Options

Hill Spice Restaurant is the resort’s main eatery dining facility, a spacious hall with a long balcony from where you can enjoy the sight and sounds of the tall trees swaying in the breeze and the chirping of cicadas. The dishes are made with fresh and organic ingredients, with an emphasis on the traditional cuisine of Kerala and South India, with other North Indian and continental dishes always available to please all palates. Enjoy a buffet breakfast to set you up for the day ahead and regroup by night with a candle-lit dinner under the starry skies. Cafe Elaichi is a roof-top restaurant set under the canopy of tall trees, offering al fresco dining and barbecues around the campfire, with the cooling mountain breeze adding to its unique atmosphere.
