    About the Takayama Green Hotel

The Takayama Green Hotel is set in the heart of the Japanese city of Takayama. Nicknamed ‘Little Kyoto’, Takayama is a charming and historic town, and at the Takayama Green Hotel, you’re in a prime position to explore not only the town itself, but also the nearby Japanese Alps and Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO-listed thatched roof village. Takayama is also home to some of Japan’s finest food, thanks to the wealth of food grown and produced in the surrounding Hida Mountains.

The hotel has a pretty little circuit garden, a traditional Japanese-style garden complete with a koi carp pond. For those looking to explore a little further afield, the hotel also offers a bike rental service at a small extra charge. If you’re after some rest and relaxation during your stay, the Takayama Green Hotel is even home to its own onsen, or natural spring. Split into mens’ and womens’ pools, bathe in the naturally warm and healing waters and feel your stresses fade away!

    Dining options

The Takayama Green Hotel offers six excellent dining options, whether it’s for your evening meal or something a little lighter. Look out on the garden while you dine on Japanese dishes incorporating Hida beef, local produce and freshly caught seafood at Ryokutei. For a quintessentially Japanese experience, you can also try dining izakaya-style (at a bar) at Shirakawago. Set within a beautiful traditional interior, enjoy delicious local dishes such as Takayama ramen, grilled Hoba miso and Tsukemono steak alongside a cup of sake.

You can also sample Chinese cuisine at Tenkyoro, which utilises the local produce while still offering authentic and flavourful Chinese dishes. For an even wider choice of things to eat, visit Summit, a buffet-style restaurant with a range of dishes around the world. Situated at the top of the hotel, Summit also enjoys great views all around.

If you have a hankering for something sweet, Belange is a delightful patisserie offering carefully crafted cakes and desserts, made from seasonal fruits gathered locally, served either to dine in or to go. Seasonal sweets can also be enjoyed at the laid-back Kinoka lounge and bar. Overlooking the garden, Kinoka also offers coffee alongside a range of cocktails and alcoholic drinks, with a piano player adding to the atmosphere on weekend evenings.
