About the Royal Art Hotel

The Kurashiki Royal Art Hotel is located just a short walk from many of the attractions of the historic and cultural city of Kurashiki. Kurashiki is most famous for its Bikan historical quarter, a preserved town on the canal from the Edo period, which is just a five-minute walk away from the Royal Art Hotel. Close by you’ll also find other attractions such as Osashi House (a five-minute walk) and the Ohara Museum of Art (a ten-minute walk). Slightly further afield, but still within walking distance, are the City Art Museum, the Observatory and the Museum of Natural History.

Dining options

Featuring both the local and Western cuisine, the Royal Art Hotel Kurashiki is home to two excellent restaurants, which are both open for lunch and dinner. Kurashiki is a Japanese restaurant offering a truly authentic dining experience. After being shown to your dining table in one of six tatami dining rooms, you’ll sit and dine in a kotatsu: a traditional covered table on the floor with a heater underneath. The menu changes daily, making the most of the local seafood and produce.

The Hachikengura restaurant offers an equally unique experience, as it is housed in the former rice storehouse of the powerful Ohashi family. Retaining a traditional Kurashiki atmosphere, Hachikengura offers French-style cuisine and a handful of other European dishes.

For more casual dining during the day, head to Cafe Ravenna next door to the hotel lobby. Here you can start your day with a delicious breakfast, while after breakfast the cafe is open throughout the day, serving up some tasty coffee and cakes.

By night, the Heisa Bar is the perfect spot to wind down your day after your wonderful evening meal. Spread across three cosy rooms, each with their own counter, this chic bar offers a variety of drinks, including freshly prepared cocktails.
