Mari Mari Cultural Village

Kota Kinabalu

Overview

Highlights:

  • Discover Sabah's rich heritage
  • Explore traditional homes and take part in demonstrations
  • Try local snacks and a traditional meal

Visit the Mari Mari Cultural Village where we can experience an enriching insight into Sabah’s living heritage. As we explore the traditional homes of the region’s five indigenous tribes, we can appreciate the varied heritage and long-standing customs and learn about Sabah’s rich cultural tapestry through hands-on displays and engaging storytelling.

Beyond the family homes, demonstration huts invite you to learn about traditional skills, see crafts come to life and watch as intricate tattoo motifs take shape with delicate precision. Here you can try your hand at the ancient technique of bamboo fire-starting and observe the skill required to master a traditional blowpipe, once an essential tool for survival in the rainforest. Our experience ends with a traditional meal showcasing the wealth of ingredients in this diverse region.
