Chocolate Tour

Arenal

Overview

Highlights:

  • Learn about cacao cultivation, harvesting, and traditional chocolate-making methods.
  • Discover the importance of cacao to ancient civilisations
  • Learn how to make handcrafted chocolates

Step into the lush heart of the rainforest and uncover the fascinating story behind one of the world’s most beloved treats, chocolate. This hands-on experience takes you on a journey from bean to bar, revealing why cacao was so treasured by the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations and how it shaped their cultures.

We begin by exploring the cacao trees themselves, learning how the pods are cultivated and harvested in this vibrant tropical ecosystem. We then discover the traditional methods used to ferment, dry and grind the beans, perfected over centuries. As we are guided through each stage of chocolate production we gain a unique insight into the craftsmanship before we taste the rich, complex flavours.
