Day 1: Puerto Maldonado, 3 nights

Fly from Lima to Puerto Maldonado, and travel into the lush rainforest to reach the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción Lodge, set on the banks of the Madre de Dios River. After settling into our cosy cabana, explore the forest trails with an expert guide, learning about the diverse plants and creatures that call this region home. As dusk falls, we board a riverboat for a twilight cruise.

Day 2: Lake Sandoval & Canopy Walkway

After an early breakfast, walk through the sun-dappled jungle to Lake Sandoval, where we board a wooden canoe, searching for Giant otters, Squirrel monkeys, Black caimans and brilliantly coloured macaws. In the afternoon, ascend the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, a network of suspension bridges strung high above the forest floor in the treetops. After dark, we venture out on a night walk to discover the rainforest’s mysterious nocturnal life.

Day 3: Wildlife & Waterways

This morning, discover the lodge’s organic bio-orchard and palm plantation, where local guides introduce us to Amazonian medicinal plants. Later, we take a relaxing canoe ride around the lodge’s peaceful lagoon. Try your hand at catch-and-release piranha fishing before visiting a nearby clay lick – an essential stop for parakeets and macaws in search of mineral-rich soil.

Day 4: Lima, Overnight

Enjoy breakfast and a final boat ride along the Madre de Dios River, taking in your last glimpses of rainforest life. We return to Puerto Maldonado and fly back to Lima, where we check into the Sol de Oro Hotel & Suites for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Depart Lima

After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our flight home.
