Just a one-hour drive from Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park – ‘The Land of the Giants’, is best known as being home to Africa’s largest elephant population. The Chobe River is the focus of wildlife activity, as the heat of the African sun beats down across the plains, herds of wildlife congregate in and around the river – a truly magical sight to behold.

Itinerary

Day 1: Chobe National Park, 3 nights

Following breakfast, we take the short journey from Victoria Falls to Botswana and arrive at our hotel in time for lunch. Cresta Mowana Safari Lodge, located on the banks of the Chobe River where Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe meet will be our home for the next three nights. Later, we venture into Chobe National Park to enjoy an unforgettable wildlife cruise. The Chobe River draws native animals in the hordes. Cameras at the ready – you can expect to see hippos, antelope, buffalo and of course elephants during the cruise.

Day 2: Chobe National Park

It’s an early start this morning, as we head out on a thrilling game drive in Chobe National Park. Abundant with wildlife, look out for the blue wildebeest, Cape buffalo, crocodile, civet, giraffe, hyena, zebra and many more animals. We return to our hotel for lunch and an afternoon enjoying the lodge’s facilities. Later, we return to the park for our second game drive of the day. Enjoy the area’s rich birdlife, with over 450 species of birds on offer. Look out for African marsh harriers, African fish eagles, and Crimson-breasted shrikes.

Day 3: Chobe National Park

The day is yours to explore as you wish. There is an additional game drive available for those looking to witness even more local wildlife. Or, if you prefer, enjoy a relaxing day by the pool and lunch at the hotel. Our day comes to a close with a sunset cruise on the Chobe River. The skies are streaked with orange and red as the river’s grassy banks are home to many grazing wildlife including lions, leopards and jackals. It truly is the perfect way to end our wonderful trip.

Day 4: Depart Chobe National Park

After an exhilarating trip, we must leave Botswana and Africa today but we will cherish our memories forever. We return to Victoria Falls Airport in time for our flight to Johannesburg, before boarding a connection flight to London Heathrow this evening.

Game Drive, Chobe

Chobe National Park is an 11,000 square kilometre wilderness enjoying one of the greatest concentrations of game in all of Africa, and this three-hour game drive will take you right to the heart of the action. Among the creatures you can expect to see are the African painted dog, blue wildebeest, civet, giraffe, hyena, leopard, zebra and much more. The Chobe River flows along the north-east border of the park and is a watering spot for large herds of elephant, as well as families of antelope and Cape African Buffalo. Ornithologists will enjoy viewings of carmine bee-eaters, spoonbills, ibis, various species of storks, ducks and other waterfowl.
