For centuries, the traditional artisans of Udaipur have created beautiful woven, printed, dyed and embroidered silks and cottons. These crafts have been practiced and passed down through the generations in order to preserve the identity of each art form. Variations in the colour, prints, textures and finishes of these textiles are inherent to the handmade processes that have changed little over the years and reflect the individuality of the artist.

We will visit the homes of some of these traditional artists, some of them the last of their line, to watch them at work, and learn how to appreciate the subtle nuances of these art forms unique to Udaipur. It is a rare opportunity to experience the vibrant and diverse world of textiles up close, and at your own pace. An expert will be on hand to answer your questions and help you to interact with the artists.
