Nelson – Wine and Artisans Tour

Perfect for those who are fans of all things carefully crafted, this half-day art and wine tour from Nelson includes visits to leading Nelson art galleries alongside tastings at two award-winning Nelson wineries, as well as a spot of lunch. Enjoy Nelson on this New Zealand tour, where the Wine & Artisans tour can be booked as an optional excursion during your time in the city.

After being collected directly from your hotel in Nelson, you’ll start off by travelling through the glorious countryside of the Nelson Tasman region. The Nelson Tasman region is recognised as the largest hub for creative arts in New Zealand, and there is no doubt many of the artists here have been inspired by the pristine scenery and landscapes. Your informative driver and tour guide will also offer their knowledge of the countryside landscapes as well as interesting aspects of local European and Maori history as you travel between each stop.

More than 300 working artists and artists are based in this creative area of New Zealand, including everyone from painters to potters, jewellers, sculptors and glass blowers. As part of the tour, you’ll get to visit some of the local Nelson art galleries and workshops, admiring the beautiful handiwork and craftsmanship. Each item in these galleries is handmade and therefore totally unique, bearing the personal touch of its creator. There may also be the opportunity to meet the artisans themselves and learn more about the inspiration and processes behind their work.

This excursion also includes two excellent Nelson wine tours. This part of the world really is a hidden gem when it comes to wine, and during this wine tour from Nelson, you’ll get to visit some of the best boutique and family-owned wineries in the Nelson area. These hand-picked wineries offer a brilliant and personal cellar door experience, where the winemakers are more than happy to discuss their wines and how they are produced. Wine tastings are also included, so you can sample several of the area’s popular local varieties.

Between the art gallery and winery visits, you’ll also get to stop off at a pretty seaside wharf for a spot of lunch (not included). Wander around the wharf and choose from a selection of delightful places to eat by the sea. There’s even the opportunity to browse even more galleries found along the wharf before the travels continue elsewhere.

After a wonderful day of immersing yourself in the local art scene and sampling the local wines, you’ll also be transported directly back to your hotel: a totally stress-free day exploring the wonders of Nelson.
